United Way ALICE Report
ALICE is a United Way acronym that stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. The bottom line can be found in this single sentence.
As much as one-third of population of the United States lives in an ALICE household (ALICE Report, Connecticut, 2016).
In this report (link), The Commonwealth Fund revealed that within a 12-month period,
34% of adults aged 19-64, because of cost, did not:
- visit doctor or clinic,
- fill a prescription,
- skipped recommended test, treatment, or follow-up, or
- did not get needed specialist care
